Day 3 in Rabat

Updated: Aug 21, 2024

We were back at MACECE for an interesting lecture about Islam. All the speakers have been so knowledgeable about their content area and have given us much to ponder. I’m not going into the details of any lectures at this point because so many of them require time to process the rich content from them.

We also went to an American school that was amazing. Several teachers from our program were ready to move over and work there. (One even looked up openings.) The school has the International Baccalaureate Programme and they have only 530ish (2 classes per grade level) students K-12. Amazing facilities and materials…not to mention a view of the ocean.

We finished the day meeting with Fulbrighters from various programs. I’m not really a “reception” type person but it was fascinating to talk with so many amazing people connected to Fulbright. And MACECE. They really bring together an incredible group of people.

We ended earlier than previous nights but I really needed that time to pack. I hadn’t even purchased anything yet and I still couldn’t fit everything back in my bags. lol.

Note on accessibility- MACECE is a gorgeous building (seems like older house/mansion) but be prepared to climb stairs without railings. Some of my awesome group loaned me their arm for getting back down. The stairs are a little taller than some might be used to climbing so keep that in mind too. At the school, we made it up to their roof and were near the one elevator of the school. I asked the director and he was kind and let a couple of us take it down to simplify the challenge of getting back down.
