We still had a full day on our last day in the country. We had the opportunity to debrief with each other in the morning and it was so cool to hear about others' experiences across the country. Of course, I still feel like I got the best city and host teacher. :)
We were also able to visit Dar America and see where they are currently located. We had to have our passports for that location. Apparently they have a new state of the art facility that they will be moving to later this year. They offer many different opportunities for lectures, trainings, etc for locals from people also in the area and people who are abroad. Sounds like a wealth of opportunities.
We also had a chance to learn some calligraphy! Since we'd see some incredible calligraphy in various buildings so it was a nice way to wrap up the trip and make connections to the skills (which I lacked) that decorated and added to the ambience of the historic buildings.
It was sad to have the final lunch and dinner with each other. It seemed like such a short time but also a long time because of how much we did in just a couple of weeks. Hopefully many of us will keep in touch so that we can extend the global classroom connections further.
Tips for future TGCers - have one of the leaders negotiate for those extra bags you'll probably need by now. Lol.
Accessibility - Some of the people might take very narrow paths around some objects. Be prepared to look ahead of you to see if there are ways you can get to more accessible routes without getting too far behind and try to stay in the front, if at all possible. I've found that once I'm in the back, it is much harder to catch up because if the front of the line waits for the back of the line to catch up, they'll immediately start walking again so those at the back never get a chance to rest. Also, some of the smaller restaurants might have seats that are comfortable but when all seats are filled, it can make it almost impossible (even for those in great shape) to get to/from the restroom. I ended up waiting until the next location (fortunately not too long a wait) to go. So, if you have medicine that makes that an issue, you might want to spend more time figuring out where to sit in the restaurant to make it easier for yourself.
